The Veterans Adapted Sport Project provides funding for injured, ill and disabled Veterans to be able to engage in adaptive sports all year long and encourage Veterans to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle. Your contribution to the Veterans Adapted Sport Project helps to enhance the lives of disabled Veterans. Participation in adapted sports helps Veterans to achieve the following goals:
- Overcome perceived limitations and boundaries.
- Foster a sense of pride and self-esteem that will carry-over to their daily lives.
- Encourage reasonable risk taking to empower to challenge themselves.
- Promote group success where each member contributes to the success of others.
- Create a fun experience and atmosphere where expectations can be exceeded.
The Veterans Adapted Sports Project’s goal is to provide as many recreational sport opportunities as possible. Recreational and adapted sports include: biking, fishing, river rafting, sailing, rowing, waterskiing, kayaking, basketball, quad rugby, sled hockey, skiing, archery, golf and sitting volleyball. These sports and activities are an integral component of rehabilitation and recovery for many injured Veterans.
The city of Eugene Adaptive Recreation Services hosts many of these adaptive sports activities and is a Paralympic Sport Club.
Donate Now — Your contribution to the Veterans Adapted Sport Project will help local Veterans attend local programs year round and competitive adaptive sports events for Veterans with disabilities. Sponsoring shows that you care about improving their lives through sport.
